Apply for the marriage license
Shawnee County Probate handles marriage licenses and directs applicants to the statewide online form. Its published license fee is $85.50, before online payment charges. Contact Probate/Marriage at 785-251-6362 with application questions.
Allow time for the license
Kansas guidance says to allow at least two weeks after applying; do not plan on same day issuance. The license expires six months after issuance. The completed license must return to the issuing court within ten days after marriage.
Contact a judge for the actual ceremony
Shawnee County links a list of current and retired judges available to officiate weddings. Fees, courtroom and ceremony times are arranged directly with the judge you choose. Do not treat the license payment as the ceremony fee.

- Judge ceremony: arrange the judge, fee and room directly, then confirm what can be photographed.
