How to get married in Bald Head Island, NC

For a Bald Head Island wedding, start with your ceremony location and marriage license. Confirm the venue’s arrangements before booking the rest of the day, then leave room for the photographs and time with your guests.

Your license can come from any North Carolina county

You do not have to obtain your license in Brunswick County. A North Carolina license can be used anywhere in the state. It is usable immediately and valid for 60 days.

If you apply in Brunswick County

Appointments are required. Call (910) 253-2690 or email [email protected]. Complete the application, attend together with government photo identification and provide your Social Security numbers. The county requires additional documents when a previous marriage ended in divorce or death.

The fee is $60, payable by cash, certified check or money order. The office does not accept personal checks or credit and debit cards. Check special requirements directly with the office.

Confirm the ceremony arrangements

Choose an authorized officiant and arrange two witnesses. Ask your venue or the Village about permission for your exact ceremony location and setup. Do not assume a beach location includes permission for chairs, an arch or other equipment.

Use the state marriage guidance to confirm officiant requirements. Your officiant must return the completed license to the issuing county within 10 days.
