When to Get Married in Wilmington, NC

There is no single best month for every Wilmington wedding. Choose a season around the setting you want, your guests and the experience you want to have outside. Then build a weather backup and a realistic photography timeline.

Spring: gardens and a flexible outdoor plan

If a garden setting appeals to you, spring is worth exploring. Ask the venue what is usually in bloom around your date rather than assuming the garden will match a photograph from another month. Plan for changing temperatures, rain and pollen, and have an indoor option your guests can reach comfortably.

Summer: shade, water and breaks

For a summer outdoor wedding, build in shade, hydration and time to cool down. Consider how long guests will sit outside and where everyone waits before the ceremony. Bright midday sun can shape where portraits work best; a later portrait break may suit your day better.

Fall: daylight matters as much as the temperature

An autumn wedding can still need a warm weather plan early in the season. Check the sunset for your exact date and allow time for family photographs, portraits and any travel before daylight ends. A ceremony time that worked in June may leave very little portrait light in November.

Winter: an earlier portrait window

Winter planning often means making the most of a shorter day. If you want outdoor portraits, consider photographs before the ceremony or an earlier ceremony. Ask about indoor portrait locations, guest comfort and holiday opening hours. Do not assume a winter date automatically has a lower price.

The Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30, and storms can occur outside those dates. A fall date does not remove that risk.
