Apply through Sangamon County
Complete and pay for the application online. The Clerk contacts you after processing so both applicants can attend with identification to collect the license. The ceremony must be in Sangamon County; the published license fee is $75.
Choose your license date carefully
Apply at least one day and no more than 60 days before the ceremony. A submitted application or payment is not a confirmed ceremony appointment.
Reserve the court ceremony
The court asks couples to schedule two weeks ahead at 217-535-3186. Ceremonies take place in Room 404 at 200 South Ninth Street, subject to availability. Its separate fee is $10, and couples should arrive 15 to 20 minutes early.
