Getting married in Raleigh starts with two separate arrangements: a North Carolina marriage license and someone authorized to perform the ceremony. Your photography can fit around the kind of day you want to have.
Check the county’s current application instructions
Use the Wake County Register of Deeds marriage license page for local application and visit instructions. Confirm the documents, payment options and office arrangements directly before travelling.
Understand the statewide requirements
The North Carolina Judicial Branch marriage guidance explains that a license from any North Carolina county may be used for a ceremony anywhere in the state. It is usable immediately and expires after 60 days. That does not guarantee a ceremony slot on the day you receive it.
Arrange an authorized officiant and two witnesses. If you want a magistrate ceremony, contact the local magistrate’s office about availability. For applicants under 18 or questions about who may officiate, use the court’s guidance and confirm your circumstances with the appropriate office.
