How to get married in Mt. Airy | Mt. Airy Courthouse Photographer

Planning guide updated October 15, 2026. Confirm current office arrangements before travelling.

For a Mt. Airy wedding, plan the license and ceremony separately. Confirm your office visit and ceremony arrangements before booking the rest of your day.

Contact the Register of Deeds

The North Carolina Association of Registers of Deeds lists the Surry County office at 201 E. Kapp Street in Dobson, with telephone 336-401-8150. Use its official professional directory listing to reach the office and county website.

Before travelling, ask about the current application process, documents, fee, accepted payments and whether an appointment is needed. Have the office confirm any requirements that apply to a previous marriage, an applicant under 18 or documents issued outside the United States.

Arrange your ceremony

The state marriage guidance explains that a North Carolina license may be used statewide and expires after 60 days. Arrange an authorized officiant and two witnesses. Confirm civil ceremony availability directly with the magistrate’s office if that is the route you choose.

Talk through the photography

Share your ceremony location, guest count and plans during a call. We can talk about portraits, time with your guests and the moments you want to remember.
