  4. Bring $86 cash, check, or card for your Marriage License
  5. Provide your Social Security Number

  7. Attend the ceremony with your partner and 2 witnesses
  8. Sign the marriage license
  9. Have the officiant file the license

How to get a Miami-Dade County Marriage License


First you’ll need to schedule an appointment or walk-in at the Clerk’s Office:


  • Miami-Dade County Courthouse (73 W. Flagler Street)
  • Appointments are available for both applications and ceremonies. Walk-ins are accepted but may experience longer wait times.
  • Appointments can be scheduled in advance. Complete the online marriage license pre-application to expedite the process.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Complete the Online Marriage License Pre-Application HERE
  • Provide a valid photo ID: Driver’s License, Passport, U.S. Military ID, State ID, or Alien Registration Card.
  • Provide your Social Security Number (you do NOT need to bring the card).
  • $86 cash or card.

Important Notes


Florida residents: Mandatory three-day waiting period unless you attend a premarital preparation course. Present the certificate of completion to waive the waiting period and receive a discounted license fee of $61.

Non-Florida residents: No waiting period.

No blood tests required.

Must be 18 or older to apply without parental consent.

Marriage licenses are valid for 60 days from the issue date.

Getting Married at the Courthouse


Once you get your marriage license, you can schedule a time with the magistrate at the courthouse.

• A courthouse official or magistrate will officiate the ceremony.

• The marriage ceremony must be performed on or after the effective date and within 60 days of the issuance of the license.

Getting Married Using an Officiant


You do not have to get married in a courthouse. Once you get a marriage license from the Clerk’s Office, you can hire an officiant to elope at your desired location.
