Both applicants generally appear together with proof of birth date and the information on the county’s checklist. An online pre-application can save time, but it does not complete the license visit. Check the current location and office arrangements before attending.
Check the fee and validity period
Knox County lists a $97.50 license fee, reduced to $37.50 with the qualifying premarital preparation course certificate. Additional payment processing charges may apply. The license has no waiting period and is valid for 30 days, including the issue date, for a Tennessee ceremony.

The county currently offers ceremonies by appointment at its Old Courthouse for Knox County residents only, for the couple and six guests. Confirm residency eligibility, appointment availability and camera access directly. A license visit at another office does not reserve that service.
