Apply through the Harris County Clerk
Both applicants generally attend a County Clerk location with accepted identification. The Clerk lists $81 when at least one applicant provides the required Texas residency proof, or $181 without it. Check the document checklist for your circumstances before visiting.
Allow for the waiting period
The standard waiting period is 72 hours after the license is issued, and the ceremony must take place within 90 days of issuance. Exceptions require the appropriate qualifying documentation or waiver; do not assume a same day ceremony is available.
Reserve your ceremony separately
The Clerk recommends confirming that your officiant is authorized to perform your ceremony before you buy the license. Contact the officiant or court for its appointment, guest and camera arrangements. The license visit does not book a wedding.
