Request the Linn County application
The Recorder says the marriage application is not available online; obtain it from the office or request a copy. Both applicants and a witness aged 18 or older who knows both must sign before a notary.
Allow for processing and the waiting period
The application fee is $35. A three day waiting period begins the day after processing. A judge approved waiver is a separate process; ask the Recorder about timing rather than assuming the day you mail paperwork starts the wait.
Schedule courthouse ceremonies separately
The Recorder does not perform marriages. Its current guidance directs courthouse ceremony requests to the Civil Division at 319-398-3411, with ceremonies on Mondays. Call for an available appointment before reserving photography.
