Book the marriage intention appointment
Boston requires both applicants to attend City Hall together by appointment; it is not accepting walk ins for this service. After booking, complete the marriage intention form from the city email and bring the required identification and information.
Leave three days before the wedding
The published application fee is $50. Although Boston now issues the license at the appointment, it cannot normally be used for three days without a court waiver. It expires 60 days from the appointment and must be used for a Massachusetts ceremony.
Reserve your ceremony separately
A marriage intention appointment is not a City Hall ceremony reservation. Arrange the officiant, ceremony time, guest arrangements and photography access separately, then deliver the license to the person performing the wedding.

For Boston, I would confirm the ceremony appointment before planning a portrait route and leave room for arrival and security. A nearby location and an indoor alternative work better than using your short booking on several transfers.
