A Wrightsville Beach elopement can be a simple day with the people closest to you. Start by confirming the ceremony location, permit and marriage paperwork before setting the rest of your plans.
Apply for the beach wedding permit
The town requires a Special Event Permit for weddings on public property. Its online wedding application covers beach accesses 2, 4, 16, 36 and 43. Contact Parks and Recreation about other locations or a group of 200 or more.
The town currently lists application fees of $130 for 1–25 participants, $180 for 26–100 and $250 for 101–199. Count everyone attending, including organizers and spectators. Larger events have different fees and may require a deposit. Confirm the current total and approval process with the town; do not assume same day approval.

Arrange the license and ceremony
Book your license appointment through the New Hanover County Register of Deeds. The county lists a $60 license fee. Arrange an authorized officiant and two witnesses, following the state’s marriage guidance. The permit and marriage license are separate requirements.
