Apply through Onslow County
Complete the online marriage application and keep the confirmation number. Both applicants then need to visit the office with unexpired photo identification and proof of their full Social Security numbers. Accepted proof includes a Social Security card or qualifying financial, tax or military documents.
The county lists a $60 license fee, payable by cash or credit card. If either applicant divorced within the past 12 months, it requests the divorce decree. Applicants aged 18 or younger need a certified birth certificate; contact the office about any additional requirements.
Arrange the ceremony
Onslow lists a separate $50 cash fee for a magistrate ceremony and requires two witnesses. Confirm availability and instructions before travelling. The license is valid for a ceremony in North Carolina within 60 days.
