An Airlie Gardens

The garden is part of the story.

Some photographs bring you close. Others remind you where you were. At Lizzy’s wedding at Airlie Gardens in Wilmington, I wanted room for both: the people, the dress, and the trees around them.

The wider portraits give the setting its place in the story. Then we come closer for the expressions and the small things happening between two people.

Before the vows.

A hand straightening a bow tie. A moment to get ready. These quieter photographs belong beside the ceremony and portraits because they help tell the day in a different way.

A ceremony among the greenery.

Under the garden’s open beams, Lizzy and her partner held hands with their officiant beside them. The greenery frames the photograph, but their faces are what bring you back to the moment.

I like leaving space in a wedding story for photographs like this. The portrait session matters, and so does what happens before anyone turns toward the camera.

Time for the dress.

For Lizzy’s solo portraits, the garden path gave her dress room to spread. A full length photograph shows its shape and the setting together.

When we plan portraits, tell me what you want to remember about your dress, your veil, or the way everything felt. Those details can help guide the photographs without turning the entire session into a checklist.

A little movement.

Holding hands, moving across the lawn, letting the dress follow. A change of pace gives the photographs a different energy.

There is room for a quiet portrait beneath the veil, too. A wedding gallery can hold both: the photographs that feel playful and the ones that bring you a little closer.
